My brief summary of the book
Mary Stuart, or “Mary Queen of Scots,” has a challenging path ahead of her to cross. When Mary turns five years old, she is engaged to the heir of the French throne. She travels to France to meet and live with her soon-to-be husband. After marrying him, Francois dies soon after he becomes the King of France. Mary (a Queen Dowager) is devastated and must travel back to Scotland to claim her birthright. Mary has to find a new husband so that she can produce the heir to the Scottish throne. Will she find love and secure her place on the throne?
My thoughts
The Wild Queen: the days and nights of Mary, Queen of Scots is a well-written and fascinating book to read. I learn so much during my reading of this book. Mary is such an impressive woman in many ways. She has a wild temper, but she shows a lot of stability and strength. On the other hand, her illegitimate half-brother James Stuart is very rude and a sour grape.
