My brief summary of the book

Young Elizabeth is sad about her father’s death (King Henry VIII). So, her little brother Edward becomes king of England. But suddenly, her brother dies, and Lady Jane Grey rules for nine days and gets beheaded by Mary I (Elizabeth’s half-sister). Mary becomes Queen and sends Elizabeth to the Tower of London! Will Elizabeth survive this, or will she suffer the same fate as her mother?

My thoughts

Did you know how many languages Elizabeth I spoke?

Elizabeth was very fluent in many languages such as French (the first language of my parents), Latin, Italian, Spanish, Irish, Welsh, Flemish (a language in Belgium 🇧🇪), Greek, and Cornish.

Did I mention that my favorite English monarchs are Queen Elizabeth I and Mary I? This book is the favorite of my Elizabeth books that I have read! A well-written and informative book.

This is the second book (7 books in total) of the Young Royals series. Check out my review of the first book about Mary, Bloody Mary.

My rating

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

About the author

“Since the thrill of seeing that first book in print, I’ve written over sixty more books, non-fiction, and novels (most recently, historical fiction). In the process, I’ve learned more about writing and a lot about history, a subject that was not my favorite when I was a young student but has become my passion–a passion I love to share with readers” – Amazon.
