My brief summary of the book

Zuli is a human living among the Great Tree, where the souls of birds go. One day, fewer souls come to the tree. The leader of the birds sent Little Red to find out what was happening to the souls, but he never returned. Zuli is sent on this journey to find out where he is with her owl friend, Frowly. Along the way, they get new friends as they go, battle monsters, and find out shocking truths.

My thoughts

Thanks to my library for making me discover this incredible new middle-grade graphic novel series! The story is very intriguing, and the illustrations are gorgeous in a realistic/fantasy style. The palette is down-to-Earth. Frowly got my heart; he is humorous and the master of the funniest faces. Zuli was very sweet and courageous.

I am now so looking forward to the next book!

My rating

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
