The Gator Getters, a news crew, have caught an alligator. Three kids – Joey, Sam, and Izzy – witness this fantastic event. While Joey thinks it’s incredible, the two siblings, Sam and Izzy, are terrified because they were taught to fear the outdoors. Joey decides to go outside and somehow takes Sam and Izzy with him. Joey finds some baby alligators and saves them because the GG caught their mother. He takes them to his garage and puts them in a big red bucket. However, Joey’s dad, a hunter, comes home, and the situation becomes complicated.
It’s up to Sam and Izzy to care for the baby alligators. But they want to get rid of them because their dad will kill them if they find out they have baby alligators in their home.
They decide to give the alligators to their cousin, who works at an animal sanctuary. Will they be able to move them before their dad returns home?
Even though it wasn’t my favorite book, I still found it to have a good story despite being a little long-winded. The narrative from Izzy’s perspective was engaging, and Joey was a fantastic character who perfectly embodied the essence of a cool kid. While Izzy and Sam may have seemed slightly fearful of the outdoors, it was amusing to consider when they last touched the grass.
Another comical aspect of the book was how the characters living in Florida feared its wildlife.
The book has many more humorous aspects, but overall, I enjoyed it.
