Violet is starting middle school, but her best friend Sofia is ignoring her and seems to be moving on. She has been sitting alone at lunch for a few weeks and is desperate for a friend. By some miracle, a new girl named Jo wants to be Violet’s friend. But being friends with Jo forces Violet to change things about herself, like her passion for space and her dream of becoming an astronaut. However, when an astronaut comes to a school assembly, Violet decides to take the risk and be herself. Through this experience, Violet learns the true meaning of friendship, kindness, and forgiveness.
I recently finished reading a delightful book. The main character, Violet, is portrayed as a lovely person to be around, and I wished she were real so I could be friends with her. However, her friend Sofie’s behavior was quite disappointing, as she prioritized popularity and fitting in over being a genuine friend. Even worse was Jo, who consistently treated Violet poorly and seemed to view her more as an experiment than a friend. This dynamic felt very relatable, as I’ve experienced similar challenges in my own friendships.
Overall, the book was outstanding, delivering a compelling middle school drama with a valuable life lesson. I highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this genre.
