Paige’s summary of the book
Jasmine has never quite fit in with the Gold River kids. At least she had two friends: Mira and Rohan. Jasmine has dreams about the old Carlisle hotel, where a terrible accident happened years before. Soon, Rohan begs to spend the night at the abandoned Carlisle Hotel, saying it will boost their popularity. Will Jasmine and her friends have what it takes to spend the night in that old, creepy building that holds many things, including ghosts?
Paige’s thoughts
This book was my first K.R. Alexander horror novel. It was terrifying; it made me a bit jumpy most of the time. The idea of a haunted hotel was outstanding, which means lots of scares. I must admit that I prefer Mary Downing Hahn’s books over his books.
Jasmine was sometimes too dramatic, and the ending was not how I wanted it to be.
Laly’s thoughts
This story is very spooky and, to top that cake off, dreary. I don’t want to be a spoiler, but the ending is depressing. That is why I like it, an unhappy unpredictable ending.

About the author
“K. R. Alexander is the pseudonym for author Alex R. Kahler. As K. R., he writes creepy middle-grade books for brave young readers as Alex — his actual first name — writes fantasy novels for adults and teens. In both cases, he loves writing fiction drawn from true life experiences. (But this book can’t be real . . . can it?)Alex has traveled the world collecting strange and fascinating tales, from the misty moors of Scotland to the humid jungles of Hawaii. He is always on the move, as he believes there is much more to life than what meets the eye.” – Book Depository.
