My summary of the book
Rosie Oaks, a 12-year-old girl, has raised herself for most of her life. It’s not that she didn’t have any parents; it’s just that her mom doesn’t remember her. Besides that, Rosie always loved to make up stories until her best friend Germ suggested that Rosie’s stories were getting babyish. Rosie burns all her beautiful work and sees a ghost in her house! Rosie realizes that ghosts come and go throughout the years. A ghost boy named Ebb shows her The Witch Hunter’s Guide to the Universe. Rosie is now a witch hunter and must have a weapon to kill the memory thief to restore her mom’s memories.
My thoughts
The Memory Thief is the first book in the new trilogy Thirteen Witches. This fabulous and deep story is about a girl who must overcome thirteen evil witches. At first, the prologue confused me, but I started to understand while reading this book. I loved the inspiration this book gave me as I read. The characters’ descriptions are excellent, especially the memory witch. My favorite character is Rosie, who is imaginative and stubborn (like myself). Her imagination is her strength which I love. The book is well-written, moving, and inspiring. Last but not least, Anne Frank’s quote in this book is uplifting: “Look at how a single candle can both defy and define the darkness.” I can’t wait to read the following books.
