Charlie and Alex are the best friends ever! Except they used to be. Charlie has this huge crush on Henry, and Alex blabbed about it! I mean- what kind of friend would do that!? But Alex, on the other hand, has no idea why she is mad at him, so he has no other choice but to take her diary and read it in order to find out. Alex and Charlie must navigate through their friendship of secrets, lies, and crushes!

In this delightful book, I thoroughly enjoyed the diary format, which made the reading experience even more engaging.

My favorite character, Alex, stood out to me because of his humorous personality and relatable immaturity, reminiscent of a typical 5th grader. On the other hand, I found Charlie’s infatuation with Henry to be quite overwhelming, as she interpreted even the smallest gestures, like scratching his arm, as signs of affection. Despite this, the book was still a captivating read.

I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking for a lighthearted and amusing story centered around friendship and first crushes.

My rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.
