My brief summary of the Tiger Rising
Rob Horton, a twelve-year-old motherless boy, sees a strange thing in the woods one morning. It is a tiger in a cage! No tiger lives in Florida, much less in the woods. A new girl broads Rob’s bus later that morning. She is Sistine Bailey, and she has mixed feelings about Rob. Rob must stay at home for a few days due to the rash in his legs. Soon, Rob and Sistine start to trust each other and become friends. They must decide what to do with the tiger.
My thoughts
This book is breathtaking and emotional because it talks about death, which is hard to talk about. I felt sad at some points in the story. Rob is a special boy because he sets himself apart from the other boys, which I like. I wasn’t sure about Sistine, but now I think she is wise and develops great ideas.
This book is filled with beautiful similes and metaphors—another great DiCamillo book but not my favorite.
