One day, Luna and Fortuna – a cat – received a letter from Mr. Wellington in Venice asking them to teach his son Bernard. When they arrived, they discovered that Bernard, or Bernie, had mild cerebral palsy, which made him unable to walk without assistance. Due to this, he could only sit next to the window and watch the boys play Palla Pazza or crazy ball. However, Luna and Fortuna’s arrival made him feel less lonely, and he improved rapidly. He loved the stories that Luna told him. On his 7th birthday, Bernard received a wheelchair that allowed him to play with the boys. Unfortunately, some mean boys are causing trouble, and a bear has been spotted in Venice!
I had been eagerly anticipating the release of this book for what felt like an eternity, so when I finally got my hands on it, I was overjoyed. And let me tell you, this book was everything I hoped it would be and more!
The ending was touching and heartwarming, but I won’t spoil it.
From the first moment Bernie appeared in the story, I was instantly smitten with his charming personality and vivid imagination. After finishing the book, I wished that Luna, one of the main characters, was my teacher in real life. What I loved most about this book was how it was narrated from the perspective of Fortuna the cat, which made the story all the more fascinating.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves a good, heartwarming story and, quite honestly, to anyone who exists. It’s a must-read!
