A moving read about two friends who want to save a sibling through time travel.
Cora Hamed’s 12th birthday had just come. It’s the first birthday she spent without her older sister, Mabel, since she died in a school shooting. A gift arrives from ex-best friend Quinn Macauly, whose brother Parker was involved in the shooting. Quinn wanted to bring Mabel back through a wormhole. Cora and Quinn must work together to reverse time and relight the dying embers of their friendship.
Cora was a complicated person. She is overwhelmed with grief and is torn between her friends. Quinn is kind and compassionate. She’d do anything for her old friend to make her happy.
The theme of The Shape of Thunder is challenging; It is being able to forgive. A moving story but beautiful too. I recommend this book to anyone dealing with grief (especially sibling loss) and a compassionate story.
