My brief summary of the book

Kyoshi, a young servant orphan girl to “Avatar” Yun, is going to the South Pole with the others to sign a peace treaty with the pirate queen, to release the captives. But it turned out it was all a trick, so Kyoshi accidentally demonstrates remarkable bending. One of Yun’s tutors, Jianzhu, took Kyoshi and Yun to see a spirit to identify the real Avatar. It turned out to be Kyoshi. Kyoshi must run away after Jianzhu kills two people that she loves. Now Kyoshi is considered as a criminal called a Daofei. In her getaway, she must learn the four elements to defeat Jianzhu once and for all.

My thoughts

I loved The Rise of Kyoshi because it was adapted from one of my top 3 favorite shows: Avatar the last air bender and the legend of Korra. The author did an excellent job of explaining Kyoshi’s story, more like a behind the scenes. Kyoshi is courageous, fearless, and admirable. A perfect book for any Avatar fans, highly recommended.

My rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

About the author

“F. C. Yee grew up in New Jersey and went to school in New England, but has called the San Francisco Bay Area home ever since he beat a friend at a board game and shouted, “That’s how we do it in NorCal, baby!” Outside of writing, he practices capoeira, a Brazilian form of martial arts, and has a day job mostly involving spreadsheets.” – Amazon.
