My brief summary of the book
Olivia, 12-year-old, her mother, and her adored dog Max moved to chile to live with Olivia’s grandparents after her dad passed away. Shortly after they arrived, Olivia’s grandfather (Tata) wanted to go for a walk in the nearby forest. A boy named Diego joined them on their ride. As they ventured forward into the woods, Olivia and Diego separated from Tata and her dog Max. Brave Olivia and Diego went deeper into the woods to find her dog back. The farther they walk, the stranger it gets. They met talking animals who told them they must save the forest from an evil animal. Now, they are on their own in the potentially demon-infested forest.
My thoughts
The cover of this book is impressive; I think it puts you immediately in a foresty-adventurous mood. Throughout the book, excellent illustrations are so realistic that they help you get into the story even more. The story is mystical, a page-turner, and a bit emotional too. The characters are well-developed; they almost seem real to me.
Because the book mostly takes place in Chile, there are a lot of Spanish words. I had to google-translate a little bit at first. There are also some fun facts about Volcanos!
