Ruby, a young elephant, hates her tusks, but the question is, why?
Ruby is getting her tusks now that she is growing up. She also has to prepare for her Tuskday- a ceremony for elephants getting their tusks. But Ruby detests her tusks, and no one knows why. Ruby prefers hanging out with Ivan and Bob. But her Tuskday is coming soon. Would Tuskday be a success or a disaster? And why does Ruby detest her tusks? Find out by reading this book.
The One and Only Ruby is a prequel to The One and Only Ivan and The One and Only Bob. I loved the two previous books and knew I would love The One and Only Ruby. And this book didn’t disappoint!
You don’t have to read the first two books, but it’d be better if you read the first two so it’ll make much more sense.
I loved this book not only because it was nice and sweet but also because it was written in verse-like paragraphs. I devoured the book quickly and savored each sweet, sad, and humorous moment with Ruby.
There were illustrations throughout the book that describes the mood. The story contains quite a few riddles as well.
The bottom line is a beautiful, well-written story for young readers.
