My brief summary of the book
Abby Beckett, a 12-year-old Viking girl, gets her life-changer. After being left alone in the house, she sees a shadow blacker than midnight. Soon, Abby and her father’s lives are in danger. They must move to Minnesota for Abby to attend Vale Hall (a secret-filled school), but they encounter a strange man with no eyes on their way. The man then injures Abby’s father. Abby must find the cure to wake up her father before it’s too late.
My thoughts
The Last Shadow Warrior was a swift-paced book. You will never get bored from page 1 to page 311; it’s an action-packed book. So sometimes, I was lost and couldn’t fully understand the story.
The novel begins in an unfortunate and intriguing way. Abby lost her mom four years ago, and she still has difficulty coping. Even if the beginning is sad, the book is hilarious. The characters were a bit funny, and it sets the vibe of middle school. I liked how they modernized the Vikings because they seemed more like heroes than dangerous pirates. Overall, an action-packed Norse Mythology book.
