Have you ever given up something only to rediscover it? Well, Jessie Alden did with mystery solving.
My brief summary of the book
Jessie Alden, a bright seventh grader, thinks her mystery-solving career is over. She wants to have an everyday life, but when a boy named Daniel Garza asks her to solve the mystery of the stolen art paintings. At first, Jessie refused but eventually gave in. Jessie is also a school journalist, and she needs to write an article that’s due on Monday. Will Jessie fix those problems before she gets terrible grades or, worse, lose her friends?
My thoughts
This story was a good mystery story that involves friendship, family, and, most of all, determination. I was surprised to learn that this book was a modern version of the original Boxcar children’s series. I must admit I never read the Boxcar Children series. So, a big thank you, Ms. Stacia Deutsch, for gifting me with the book.
The story reminds me of Scooby-Doo. I loved figuring out who stole the art paintings because it makes you think more logically. I loved the description of the paintings because they sound fascinating, and I would love to see them in real life.
My rating
Do your kids like to solve mysteries? This story will sure keep them busy!
