Have you ever taken a huge risk to become something you want to be? Well, Lila did, and here is her story.

My brief summary of the book

Lila, a young girl, thinks that she is ready to become a firework-maker just like her father. Unfortunately, her father doesn’t want her to become one. He also wouldn’t tell her the secret to becoming one. But eventually, her friend Chulak told her the secret. Lila must journey from her village to Mt. Merapi to get the Royal Sulphur from Razvani, the Fire fiend. Will Lila succeed in her journey?

My thoughts

This book is a fantastic short story about a girl who pursues her dream to become a firework maker. I admire her courage and determination. The characters are well-developed, and I liked all of them. The story has heaps of great humor. Even when the story gets intense, you can still have hope that the characters will succeed.

My rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.
