A compelling story of an adolescent girl who could see spirits and a humorous ghostly sidekick trying to survive this “City of Ghosts.”
Cassidy Blake, or Cass, had faced a brush of death. Luckily, a ghost named Jacob saved her, and since then, Cass has been able to pull back the Veil to see ghosts.
One day, her parents talked about starting a TV show about the most haunted places in the world. For their first episode, the family travels to Edinburgh, Scotland. Cass and Jacob start encountering strange experiences with angry ghosts. A mysterious woman in red is out to get Cass.
Edinburgh is an intriguing place that I would love to go to someday. This book gives a lot of detailed descriptions of the attractions in Scotland, like Edinburgh Castle, Mary King’s Close, and many others. It also talked about Harry Potter; they even visited where J.K. Rowling first wrote Harry Potter! I learned plenty about spooky ghost stories in Scotland, making me thirsty for more knowledge.
Cass is intelligent and a natural photographer. She is also a great friend; someone you can depend on when you need it most. Jacob is the most hilarious character in the whole story. I enjoyed his little escapades throughout the entire book.
I did like Cass’s father because he likes to study history like me.
The story is not that scary, to be honest. Yes, some parts sometimes made my stomach twist, but it didn’t frighten me.
This thrilling book piqued my interest from the first page. I recommend this book to history buffs and people looking for a little scare.
