My summary of the book
Kyra Murch, a typical almost thirteen-year-old, is presenting a project about rats at school. By accident, the boxes that held two Norwegian brown rats fell off. The school suspended Kyra as a result. Her mom is disappointed. When Kyra was doing the laundry, a walking-talking rat suddenly appeared. The rat’s name is Shale, and he has come to warn her that they are coming after her. Kyra is confused. For her birthday, Kyra’s mom gave her a strange bracelet. After that, Kyra gets a vision of her mom getting kidnapped. She was right, her mom disappeared, and her dad whisked her away to a land named Antiica. It’s up to Kyra, who has control of the Chimera, and she must save her mom.
My thoughts
Be ready to be transported to a completely different new world: Antiica. The story is unique, adventurous, and suspenseful. The worldbuilding of the landscape, the characters (the good and the bad ones), and the fast flow of the story were fantastic.
Kyra is my favorite character; she is courageous, strong, and loyal. With Chimera and her friends, Kyra can succeed! Controlling the Chimera sounded cool! I loved imagining the possibilities you can do with it. The rats were a bit scary, but some of them were sweet.
I can’t wait to read the second book!
