My summary of the book
Life was good for Rose; she had lots of friends, a supporting and loving mother, and a popular fashion blog. Unfortunately, Rose’s mother died in a car accident, and she moved to live with her grandmother. Her favorite place in her new home is her grandmother’s Tudor-style greenhouse. One night while looking for a stray three-legged cat named September in the greenhouse, she finds herself in a sunny, strange place. She was transported 500 years ago in the time of Princess Elizabeth, known as Elizabeth I. Along the way in this century, she met a friend named Franny, who found a mysterious locket. Could it be a clue to who Rose’s father is?
My thoughts
I read a couple of books from the author Kathryn Lasky, and this is my favorite book so far! The book has a sleight of hand feature to it. There are mysteries in this book that will leave you mind-boggled. I loved trying to figure out who might be Rose’s father. The book was also compelling. As soon as I read the first page, the book hooked me.
The book was undoubtedly captivating. I loved learning more about Elizabethan fashion, daily routine, etc.
The book held my interest because I loved imagining what it might be like to be Rose when she time travels.
On the other hand, I didn’t particularly appreciate how the story depicted Elizabeth and Mary because it made Elizabeth look like a snobby know-it-all and Mary, a thief.
Overall, a tremendous historical fiction left you numb with a thirst for more. Great news: Book 2 Tangled in Time: The Burning Queen.
