My brief summary of the book

Around 1925, Ellis Ring, a mischievous 11-year-old girl, is going to Rio de Janeiro for her father’s business. Her father, Dr. Ring, is an archeologist. He assigned Will Seabury, a 14-year-old British boy, to be Ellis’s bodyguard for the trip. Ellis’ father told her that she had the power to handle a godly scepter called the Topac Yauri. Along with this incredible treasure hunt, Ellis will make friends and enemies. Will Ellis find the scepter before it falls into the wrong hands?

My thoughts

This book is a treasure! It’s a riveting adventure that will take you to places filled with twisted plots and humor. I found it extremely difficult to put this book down. The story brought me joy through the end. I learned many new things while having fun: South American culture, folktales, history, Spanish words, and more! This book is a gem, and I will cherish it forever. I would love to read more about the adventure of Scamp! Can you write more books like this one, please!!!

My rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Do you like going to treasure hunts? I certainly do!

About the author

GS Felton collected so many stories from her grandmother as a little girl. Years later, she wrote Scamp and the Legend of Laguna Verde as a way for sharing all the great adventures her grandmother had!
