David Cray had never felt anger until he had to move because his parents split up. When a kid named Jake Bragg stole his crab cakes, David took out his frustration on him and ended up beating him up. Shortly after that incident, he discovered a secret room in his house that hadn’t been used in ages. Inside, he found a quill pen, a desk, and a carving of a raven. Following this discovery, calamity began to follow him wherever he went, and many tragedies reminiscent of those in Edgar Allan Poe’s stories started to occur around him. All of it seemed to connect to a mysterious figure known as The Raven.

I had long been aware of the legendary writer Edgar Allan Poe, so I was thrilled to discover that his life and tales inspired this book. From the very first page, the book drew me in, weaving a spell that kept me turning pages eagerly. David, the protagonist, had a close friend named Libby, whose gentle spirit and warm heart shone through in every interaction. David, too, possessed a palpable kindness, making their friendship feel authentic and relatable.
I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone who craves a captivating work of horror fiction—one that grips you tightly and refuses to let go until the very last word.
