Quag is bold and independent, but when it comes to Cassie, he lies to her about being a birdwatcher and agrees to attend an art camp with her. However, his mom’s mental health has always been unstable, and when things worsen, she experiences a severe decline. This episode is different—it’s worse than before, to the point where she doesn’t recognize her son and leaves him behind. As a result, Quag is forced to live with an uncle he has never met and holds onto hope that his mom will return.
This book was excellent and a bit sad. The story was engaging, and I often found myself anticipating the next plot twist. My favorite character was Quag, thanks to his bold personality. He had a vibe that really conveyed, “I don’t care.” Cassie was another great character; she was genuinely sweet, and I thought her mom would be really cool if she weren’t caught up in the chaos.
The setting was richly detailed, immersing me in a world that felt both familiar and unique. The author’s ability to evoke emotion and create relatable characters made this book a memorable read.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting read filled with plot twists, heartfelt moments, and characters that linger in your mind long after you’ve turned the last page.
