Three kids discover an old manuscript that changes their lives for the better or worse.

Simon, Jane, and Barnabas, also known as Barney, are visiting their Great Uncle Merry, or Gumerry, in Cornwall for their vacation. One day, the three kids were playing an explorers’ game when they stumbled upon the hidden attic of the Gray House, their vacation home. While exploring the attic, Barney goes to fetch an apple he had brought with him and discovers an old manuscript that leads to the Holy Grail. However, the Drew children soon realize that some people are after the manuscript and will stop at nothing to get their hands on it. Will the Drews be able to find the Holy Grail and prevent it from falling into the wrong hands?

Imagine being transported to England, a place on my bucket list, through the pages of a book. As I delved deeper, there were a lot of mentions of King Arthur, and I gained insight from them. I also liked the thrill of the treasure hunt from the story as well.

The characters were well crafted. Simon, the eldest, was a bit bossy but had a heart of gold. Jane, who worried a lot, proved to be a resourceful character, and Barney, my favorite, was simply excellent. Great Uncle Merry was shrouded in mystery, making his character all the more intriguing. However, the Withers were downright arrogant. The boy Bill was very curt and as arrogant as the Withers’.

This book is a perfect gift for all King Arthur fans and anyone who enjoys a good treasure hunt.
