Ophelia Starcluck has spent her entire life on her father’s spaceship, but soon, she and her friend Finn will attend the BAST school on their home planet, Aves. Her ex-bestie Kiera wishes to be friends again, but Kiera believes that having friends means liking all the same things. Ophelia shares this belief, so she and Finn have similar interests. Meanwhile, two weasels want to terrorize the galaxy and require a spaceship. They plan to take Ophelia’s ship by using sleeping gas, but the gas is less dense than air and floats to the ceiling, leaving Ophelia and Finn unaffected. Ophelia must learn what true friendship means and retrieve her ship at any cost.

This book was a delicious—I mean delightful—read. Who doesn’t love the idea of space chicken? The idea alone makes me want to devour the book whole!

Finn sounds like the kind of best friend we all need in our lives, while Kiera sounds like, well, a bit of a pain in the neck. Who in their right mind thinks you have to believe the same things to be friends? Come on, Kiera, get with the program!

But let’s talk about the show’s real stars, Maruduke and Ernest. Ernest’s lifelong dream of becoming the Santa Weasel at the Santa Weasel Emporium is just too hilarious for words. Who wouldn’t want to be a Santa Weasel? It’s the ultimate career goal! And Maruduke’s ambition to terrorize the galaxy? Let’s say it’s a good thing he’s a fictional character and not a real-life space weasel!

All in all, this book was a side-splitting read. I mean, who wouldn’t want to read about some space chicken and a bunch of weasels with wacky dreams and ambitions? Sign me up!
