My summary of the book

Newell, a middle school boy, thought it was Saturday and time for pancakes! Actually, it’s Wednesday and time for talent show sign-up. Newell spilled spaghetti all over his principal and landed smack dab in the middle of summer school. The principal explained that you could get out of detention or trouble- and summer school by attending the talent show during class. Newell tried to sign up without knowing what to do, but Clara got there first and signed herself and Newell as a penguin in a tutu. He got in the show but had no talent, and now his best friend, Martin, is mad at him. Will he find his talent and return to his friend?

My thoughts

The drawings are incredible. The story is nearly perfect; the only downside is that it is too long. But on the bright side, it reminds me of another story I love, Big Nate.

My rating

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.
