My brief summary of the book

Princess Ella is soon to be married to prince charming. After escaping her evil stepmother, Ella is finally the princess she wants to be. But she is unhappy and doesn’t want to marry him anymore. For one thing, Ella cannot see him, and he cares nothing about her. Will she find a way to get through with the prince?

My thoughts

“Happily, ever after” twisted to be “unhappily, ever after”! The story was a little bit confusing, especially the ending, but I enjoyed reading this unusual fairytale. It was my first fairytale retelling book, and it was interesting to see how Mrs. Haddix reimagined this one.

My rating

Rating: 4 out of 5.

About the author

Mrs. Haddix is from Ohio, a steady writer who lived in many places and even in Luxembourg (close to Belgium!). She grew up to be a news reporter and wrote over forty books for kids and teens.
