Ten-year-old Ethan frequently experiences visits from his future self. While he wishes these visits wouldn’t happen, they always seem to bring bad news. This time, his future self has a crucial mission: to stop an evil dictator from turning to darkness. This dictator was once a substitute teacher—specifically, Ethan’s substitute teacher. Future Ethan explains that she becomes evil after quitting her teaching job. The plan is simple: they need to make her fall in love with teaching so much that she never decides to quit. However, this task proves to be more challenging than it sounds.
This book was an enjoyable and quick read. I appreciated the engaging plot and the numerous twists and turns throughout the story. I particularly loved the subtle references to the future, especially the different styles of clothing. Among all the great characters, my favorite was Future Ethan; he had a fantastic personality and was even a bit arrogant. Overall, this book was a lot of fun to read.
