Natalie couldn’t help but feel her heart skip a beat every time she saw Derek. After their last middle school drama, her slight crush on him had become a raging fire that consumed her every thought. She did everything she could to make him notice her, like sharing his interests, cooking his favorite foods, and spending every moment in his company.
As Valentine’s Day approached, Natalie’s heart raced with anticipation. She mustered up the courage to ask Derek to the dance, hoping he might finally reciprocate her feelings. But when Derek politely declined, her heart shattered into a million pieces. She realized that all her efforts to win his love had been in vain, and she had lost sight of the things that truly mattered in life. Will Natalie ever get over her tragic heartbreak?

The opening hooked me completely, and I couldn’t put it down. While the ending wasn’t my favorite, it was still thrilling.
One thing I noticed was that Natalie and Zoe were in band and played the flute. I can relate to this because I’m in band, except I play the clarinet, not the flute.
Derek seemed amazing from the moment he appeared in the first book, but after diving deeper into his character in the second book, I realized he was even more complex and intriguing than I initially thought. And let’s not forget about Natalie; she’s just as quirky and lovable as ever. Her friends Zoe and Flo were equally impressive, but I must admit, Flo stole the show for me with her hilarious and quirky personality. This book was fantastic, and I can’t wait for the next installment!
