Can one boy save the world from a possibly dangerous scheme?

Ben Ripley is a 13-year-old boy who has just started his second year at Spy School. Unfortunately, his year doesn’t start well, as he accidentally blows up the school and gets expelled. He returns to his old school, but his first day doesn’t go well either. Soon, he is approached by Joshua Hallal, who is part of SPYDER- an evil organization trying to get rich by committing despicable acts. Ben has no choice but to accept Joshua’s invitation and enroll in SPYDER’s evil spy school. However, Ben doesn’t want to join the evil side; he wants to discover what SPYDER plans. The question is, what will Ben find out?

This is the third book of the Spy School series, and even though I hadn’t read the previous books, I could understand the plot. The book had several allusions to the earlier books, which caught my attention and made me want to read them. I found the book to be very engaging, and I finished it in less than two days.

The art style was simple and had a cartoony vibe to it.

Ben was a standout character and brilliantly written. His friend Erica was also knowledgeable but could be harsh at times. Joshua was a devious character. Ashley, a classmate from the evil spy school, was sneaky, and Nefarious was clever, even though he didn’t look like it.

I highly recommend this book to fans of the Spy School series who enjoy stories with plenty of plot twists.

My rating

Rating: 5 out of 5.
