A boy and his demon-turned-sister journey to find a cure to turn her back into a human.

Tanjiro Kamado, a hardworking boy who sells charcoal for other people’s fires, had made money this year for his family. Late at night, as Tanjiro travels home, a man warns him about man-eating demons roaming at night. When Tanjiro returns, his whole family is killed except his sister, Nezuko, who is turned into a demon. Tanjiro wants to cure his sister; to do that, he must become a demon slayer and confront Muzan Kibutsuji, the demon king, who may know the secret about turning demons back into humans. Along the way, Tanjiro makes friends with crybaby Zenitsu and hotheaded Inosuke, who will greatly help him in his journey.

The setting of Taisho-era Japan is fascinating. It’s like a world caught in between the ancient times and the new trending modern times in the late 1920s. Some Japanese customs are included, and there is much info about the Demon Slayer corps. The demons, on the other hand, were slightly more interesting because there was a lot I needed to know about them. In addition, this is my second favorite anime.

Tanjiro is very hardworking, but he makes the silliest faces. He is highly skilled and would do anything for his family. Nezuko is the cutest and is one of my favorites. It is adorable to see her climb into baskets to hide from the sun (since demons can’t walk in the sun), and funny that she keeps kicking doors out of their hinges. Muzan, on the other hand (hear me out), is very sneaky and good-looking. It is terrifying when he gets angry, but it shows us what he can do.

The theme of Demon Slayer is never to give up, even in times of weakness. I recommend these books to first-time anime lovers who want a great story about two siblings with a strong bond.
