Reena, a twelve-year-old girl, and her little brother Luke lived in the city all their life. One day their parents lost their jobs, and they moved to Maine because of its beautiful landscapes, areas, and beaches. Once they got to Maine, they saw big, scary-looking Belted Galloway Cows. Reena and Luke wanted to enjoy their time doing Maine-y things, but instead, her parents volunteered them to do farm work with a cow named Zora, owned by a grumpy old woman called Mrs. Falala, pronounced FUH-la-la. She seems to detest the two children. Mrs. Falala forces them to make the lazy, stubborn, mud-covered cow picture-perfect for the fair, just like Zora’s ancestors. Can Reena and Luke survive the back-breaking work and prepare the cow for the fair?

I read this book in less than a day, partially because this book is written in mostly short and space-taking poems. I also finished this book quickly because I couldn’t stop reading it.
I liked this book because I love reading and writing poetry, I love cows, and I like this author. Sharon Creech, the author of Moo, also wrote the book Love That Dog (I read it at school), Hate That Cat, and Walk Two Moons, for example.
It was also hilarious, like when the cow head-butted Reena and got snot all over her, then the cow licked her, and then the cow peed on her. I found that quite amusing.

A lovely story about nature and friendships.
