My brief summary of the book
Amy, a sweet and intelligent high-school girl who names people’s flavors, has an ordinary life in a deep space mining community. One day, her father gets fired, and the whole family has to move back to earth. Devasted Amy climbs into the cryotube, sleeps for 30 years, and doesn’t age a day! Now she is in a new school and must try to fit in while adjusting to a new life.
My thoughts
The story was very sci-fi with lots of excellent space references. The book was emotional with some sad parts. It was like a rollercoaster of emotions. The novel was very intriguing. Some secrets in the story are shocking. The characters were cartoony and all endearing. Amy is a charming girl, and I think it’s pretty cool that she names people’s flavors after food. The palette was very bright-earthy colors.
I don’t understand why Space Boy is 12+ because there are no inappropriate parts in the book, and it should be ok for 10+ kids; my sister and my mom read them too ;-).
